History of Bohrman's Grist Mill & Farm North Manheim Township Pa
The story of Bohrman's Grist Mill & Farm begins when John Jacob Bohrman who arrived in America in 1865, & worked at the Orwigsburg Shoe Mfg Company as a finisher and was also on Orwigsburg Council, purchases the Daniel Boyer estate in 1894. The origin of Mill operations actually begins in 1815, just 4 years after Schuylkill County was formed out of Berks County. J. Jacob "Jake" came to America years after his parents arrived here from Germany. John and Catherine the parents of Jake married in Orwigsburg October 11, 1854 after leaving Germany and leaving their son behind.

From the Miners Journal October 1, 1870, Abraham Boyer died September 24th of apoplexy in North Manheim Township, aged 74 yrs 9 months 4 days. Abraham willed a 106 acre farm in Wayne Township to his son George and his farm and grist mill in North Manheim Township to his son Daniel who was to provide for Abraham's widow.

Abraham's widow died in 1876 and the son Daniel in 1893. On November 11, 1893 the Grist Mill and Farm situate 2 miles from Schuylkill Haven and one mile from Adamsdale Station (P.R.R.) and 2 miles from Orwigsburg was put up for sale by the Orphans' Court to be sold as the Estate of Abraham Boyer and Daniel L. Boyer deceased.

The property consisted of 118 acres, a large dwelling house and a large summer house attached, a large Swiss Barn and wagon shed, a valuable Grist Mill and dwelling house belonging to the same.
